Eakin Enterprises Nominated for the Retail/Service Business of the Year Award

Eakin Enterprises has been nominated by the Larned Area Chamber of Commerce and Pawnee County Economic Development Commission for wKREDA’s Retail/Service Business of the Year Award.

Emma Milhon of the Larned Area Chamber of Commerce and Pawnee County Economic Development Commission, said, “Eakin Enterprise is a long-time business in our community that has a friendly staff, great customer service, and does a lot to help the community. They were selected for the Large Business of the Year award and we are proud to nominate them for wKREDA’s Retail/Service Business of the Year Award.”

About Eakin Enterprises

Eakin Enterprises, Inc. is a family owned business in Larned, Kansas that provides a variety of services including sand and gravel, dirt work, concrete construction, ready-mixed concrete, and construction rental equipment.

They have been in business for almost 70 years, with Chad Eakin currently owning and operating the business (his grandparents originally started it). In 1957, they purchased a concrete plant in Larned before moving to a location just outside of town. The founders, Willis and Wanda, had their sons – Wendell and Nolan, join the family business, along with their grandson Chad – the current owner. In 2001 and 2004, the company expanded, creating three locations. These three locations currently employ 45 people, with the main business office remaining in Larned.

According to Chad, “customer service is very important to us and going that extra mile for our customers makes a huge difference.” That difference is felt by the community as well. The company offers good jobs to employees and is involved in Larned by supporting local organizations. They also participate in the annual Glow Parade, driving their trucks down the main drag to kick off the annual Santa Fe Trail Days.
