Dodge City/Ford County Development Corporation Becomes a Sponsor for Western Kansas Rural Economic Development Alliance

    December 1, 2022

The Dodge City/Ford County Development Corporation invested in the future of Western Kansas by becoming a Titanium Sponsor for WKREDA. A Titanium Sponsorship with WKREDA will go towards promoting Western Kansas communities for recruitment of new businesses plus business and community development.

Why Dodge City/Ford County Development Corporation Chose WKREDA

The Dodge City/Ford County Development Corporation is a non-profit organization in joint partnership with the City of Dodge City, Ford County, and several private businesses. Together they combine their skills and resources to promote the growth of existing businesses in the Dodge City/Ford County area and attract more new businesses in order to help the local economy continue to thrive.

Joann Knight is the Executive Director for the Dodge City/Ford County Development Corporation and has been with the organization for over 30 years. She oversees the daily operations with a primary focus on workforce, entrepreneurship, recruitment and expansion of businesses, housing, Dodge City/Ford County area development, and improving the quality of life for surrounding neighborhoods. She is also a member of WKREDA and said that WKREDA is a key component in their success.

“The Dodge City/Ford County Development Corporation became a Titanium Sponsor for WKREDA because we believe strongly in the importance of working regionally,” Knight said. “WKREDA has provided a platform for communities across Western Kansas to create a vision and camaraderie that helps the region succeed. From the smallest to the largest counties, we all learn from each other.”

She said that increasing their contribution to WKREDA through a Titanium Level sponsorship also allowed the Dodge City/Ford County Development Corporation to gain more exposure for their community and for the region. By joining forces with WKREDA, the Dodge City/Ford County Development Corporation is enhancing the work that WKREDA does every day to bring more advantages to these communities. The Dodge City/Ford County Development Corporation’s commitment to WKREDA will help bring them one step closer to their shared goal of boosting the Dodge City and Ford County economy, infrastructure, and quality of life for residents.

“My staff and I learn and benefit a tremendous amount from the partnerships and support that we both give and receive from other WKREDA members,” Knight said. “Having access and connections to other experts in our field of work greatly enhances our ability to do what economic developers are hired to do: find opportunities and bring the partnerships together to make the opportunity and our community succeed.”
