Grill Specialty Store Gearing up to open in Downtown Garden City

    September 21, 2018

This story originally appeared at Greater Garden City.com on 8/14/18 and was written by Scott Aust.

Backyard grill masters are in for a treat soon in the form of the newest addition to downtown Garden City.

Klaus Wood Pellets, 401 N. Main St., will be a barbecue specialty store that focuses mainly on selling Traeger Grills, as well as a variety of barbecue spices including products made right here in the state of Kansas.

“We’re going to have a wall that has ‘Made in Kansas’ products,” Owner Ryan Klaus said. “And we’re going to have different kinds of cooking products, like fire disc grills, Ooni pizza ovens, and back yard fire pits. That’s just out of the gate. We’re looking to add more items down the road.”

Klaus has been a Traeger dealer out of his home since 2015. He said business has been so good that he decided it was time to open a store in Garden City. Assisting Klaus in the venture are Kenny Coons and Paul Chmielewski. They hope the store becomes a home away from home for those interested in all things grilling-related.

“We’re making an effort to broaden our customer base, and being able to offer more product lines,” Klaus said, adding that he plans to serve customers in Garden City and throughout southwest Kansas with their grilling needs.
