Flame Engineering has Been Nominated for the wKREDA Manufacturing Business of the Year. They were nominated by Brad Penka of Rush County Economic Development and Kara Jecha of Golden Belt Telephone Assn, Inc. Flame Engineering was founded in the mid-1950’s by Ralph C. and Mike Pivonka when they had designed a propane torch for burning brush and weeds on the family farm. The company has continued to expand over the years into national and international markets with their patented Red Dragon product line.

Flame Engineering has been active in the community for over 60 years. From a single torch, developed for use on the family farm, Flame Engineering, Inc. has expanded its product line to over 100 items. In recent years, they have developed an entire line of outdoor leisure products including Patio Lights and the Weed Dragon Torch. In addition, it has expanded the agricultural flaming line with the development of the Red Dragon Alfalfa, Row Crop and Bern Flamers. This diversity has allowed the company to grow regardless of market highs and lows.
