Learn and improve
December 12, 2016
With the everyday busyness of life today, it’s easy to feel detached from the rest of the world. But a recent Gallup poll indicates that volunteering in the community can counter this disconnect and can help boost an individual’s sense of purpose and build social relationships.
In a small town like Garden City, Kansas, the difference made by community volunteers is readily apparent. The Neighborhood Improvement Project is a volunteer-driven effort that’s improving the area and quality of life for citizens in Garden City and Finney County.
Projects include painting over graffiti and picking up garbage. Upwards of 1000 volunteers have spent 4000 hours participating in the effort so far and the program has collected more than $5000 in corporate donations from local businesses. Learn more and get involved!
