WKREDA Ag Committee Attends World Ag Expo
March 17, 2017
The wKREDA Ag Committee, along with our partners, the Kansas Department of Agriculture and Kansas Dairy Association, attended the World Ag Expo in Tulare, Calif., February 14-16.
WKREDA was organized in 1994 as a grassroots effort to promote economic development in 46 counties of western Kansas. Communities involved have moved from competing with each other to combining their resources to recruit for the region.
Since the organization began recruiting dairies to Western Kansas, the area has seen a major increase in dairy cows. This has also created an increase in veterinarians, feed suppliers and equipment dealers.
Participants included Lona DuVall, Finney County Economic Development Corporation; Debbie Harris, Dodge City/Ford County Development Corporation; Nikki Pfannenstiel, wKREDA; Billy Brown, Kansas Department of Agriculture; and Stephanie Eckroat, Kansas Dairy Association.
The group brought home several leads from the 2017 World Ag Expo this year that they will follow up on.
The show attracts 30,000 - 40,000 attendees per day with a total of over 100,000 during the three day show.
