Volunteer or Make a Donation in Western Kansas this #GivingTuesday - 2023
November 26, 2023
We at WKREDA thank all of the nonprofits and charities in Western Kansas for the incredible work they do to help their communities. This Giving Tuesday, we hope that individuals and businesses in our region will keep these organizations in mind when looking for ways to give back. Their efforts have a lasting impact on families and individuals in need and foster hope for the brightest future in Western Kansas.
Giving Tuesday
Giving Tuesday was launched in 2012 to inspire people to do good and give back in communities across the world. It is now celebrated annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, and this year falls on November 28th. It has become a movement promoting generosity and collaboration with nonprofits and charities everywhere.
Last year, GivingTuesday raised $3.1 billion in one day for charitable causes nationwide. The nonprofit sector is the third largest employer in the U.S., providing approximately 12.3 million jobs according to the most recent data from 2016.
The GivingTuesday website suggests a few ways to celebrate:
- “Support your local social good organizations, mutual aid networks, and community organizers.
- Do an act of kindness or help a neighbor.
- Identify your gifts, pick a cause that gets you fired up, and give back – not just for GivingTuesday but every day.”
You can also use the hashtag #GivingTuesday on social media to share the ways in which you’ve been giving to inspire others. Plus, a simple search for the #GivingTuesday hashtag will bring up ideas to get you thinking about how you will give back on Giving Tuesday and all year.
